Terms of Use

Last updated 8 September 2026

By using Is It For Dogs you agree to these terms. They are written to be readable rather than legalistic, and they should be reviewed by a solicitor before you rely on them commercially.

Who we are

Is It For Dogs is operated by A&J STUART ONLINE LTD. Contact details are on the Contact & Legal Information page.

What the service is

Is It For Dogs is an information service. We tell you what recognised veterinary and animal-safety sources say about foods, plants, drinks, ingredients and other items dogs come across, and we group that into four clear levels so you can act quickly.

It is general safety guidance based on published evidence. It is not a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or advice about your individual dog.

Veterinary disclaimer

We are not a veterinary practice and we do not provide veterinary services. Nothing on this site replaces advice from a qualified veterinary professional who can examine your dog.

If your dog may have eaten something dangerous, has eaten something you cannot identify, or is showing symptoms, contact your vet or an emergency veterinary service immediately. Do not delay in order to search here, and do not induce vomiting or give medication unless a veterinary professional tells you to.

Limits of the information

Risk depends on the individual dog — size, age, breed, health conditions, allergies, medication and how much was eaten. An item shown as Safe is not necessarily suitable for every dog.

Our library is reviewed but can be incomplete or out of date, and photo identification can be wrong. We ask you to confirm what an item is, and we would rather say we have not checked something than guess.

AI-generated information

Where we have no verified library entry, we may show an answer produced by an AI model. These answers are labelled on screen as not coming from our checked library. They may be incomplete or wrong, and should be treated as a starting point only — not as a verified assessment and never as veterinary advice.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under your account. Give accurate information when you register, and tell us if you think your account has been misused. We may suspend or close accounts that are used abusively or unlawfully.

You can close your account yourself at any time from the My dog page, which deletes your saved data.

Content you upload

You keep ownership of the notes and files you upload. You give us permission to store them and to use them to produce your safety answers, including sending relevant note text to the AI services described in our Privacy Policy.

Only upload content you have the right to upload. Do not upload other people's personal information, or anything unlawful, harmful or infringing.

Affiliate recommendations

Some links, particularly on the Offers page, are affiliate links that may earn us a commission. Commercial relationships never affect a safety assessment — the safety result is produced from our evidence system before any product is shown. Details are in our Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure. Purchases are contracts between you and the merchant, not with us.

Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to break, overload, scrape wholesale, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the site, or use it in a way that could harm other users or misrepresent our information as veterinary advice.

Intellectual property

The site, its name, design, written content and the structure of our safety library belong to us or our licensors. Source organisations own their own material and are independent of us. You may read and share our pages for personal, non-commercial use with a link back; you may not republish our library as your own.

Availability

We aim to keep the site available and accurate but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or complete, and we may change or remove features.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on general information published here, or from the acts of merchants you buy from. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

The liability and governing-law wording should be confirmed by a solicitor before launch; we have not asserted any specific limitation figure.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, unless your local consumer law says otherwise.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when. Questions about these terms should go to the contact details on our Contact page.
