Almonds

Almonds are not toxic to dogs but can cause choking, gut obstruction and pancreatitis.
What to do
Contact your vet if your dog ate a large amount, is choking, or showing signs of blockage.
When to contact a vet: Seek urgent care if your dog is choking, has severe abdominal pain, or repeated vomiting.

Why
Almonds are high in fat and can trigger pancreatitis in some dogs. Whole almonds can block the oesophagus or gut, especially in small dogs. Salted or flavoured almonds add extra sodium and seasonings. Almonds are also a common allergen. Safer nuts are not recommended either; most nuts are high in fat.
